The ELS (Expeditionary Learning Schools/Outward Bound) at Reuther Central High is here to prepare any student for post-secondary education.  We believe all our students have the capability and assets to pursue further education.  Everything we do in EL Schools is meant to give our students options after high school.

Through interviews and parent meetings, the principles and philosophies o fELS (Expeditionary Learning Schools/Outward Bound) have been described in detail.  The ELS (Expeditionary Learning Schools/Outward Bound) characteristics that have been described to you are:

  • The system for helping students to complete missing work
  • The requirement of participation in groups
  • The necessity for parental involvement
  • The expectation of attendance above 90%
  • The attendance and participation in low ropes trip and other initiatives
  • The expectation of participation in overnight camping trips
  • The requirement for participation in Crew
  • The requirement for participation in service projects
  • The expectation of graduation
  • The pursuit of post-secondary education

By signing this contract the parent/guardian and student are agreeing to the philosophies of ELS (Expeditionary Learning Schools/Outward Bound).  If, at any point, the student, the school, or the parent/guardian feel that ELS (Expeditionary Learning Schools/Outward Bound) is not serving the best needs of the student, we will interview the student for another Reuther program.
