Certified Nursing Assistant

Prepares students to perform basic supportive skills in caring for patients in various health care settings.  This class provides classroom and laboratory instruction and clinical experience in a nursing home. Graduates are awarded a certificate upon passing the state test and are placed on the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Registry. Fulfills a prerequisite for Gateway nursing programs.

Current Trends in Health Careers

Introduces students to a variety of health occupations that are in demand in today's health care market.  Course will include theory, presentations, lab, as well as rotating occupational experiences in a health care facility. Students will focus on careers in the allied health fields, which will provide knowledge for making a career choice.

Medical Terminology YOP

Medical Terminology is an in-depth study of the meaning and formation of medical scientific terms. The prefixes, suffixes and roots of medical terms are learned along with prescribed medical readings.  Terms for diagnostic tests, procedures and body systems are also learned.  Must have taken high school medical terminology or permission of instructor.

510-346 - Third Quarter   M-F, 7:45-10:45 a.m. theory at Reuther first 6 weeks, M-F 7:30-11:30 am Clinical Experience at facility last 3-4 weeks. Times can be adjusted to meet the needs of students. 

510-346 - Fourth Quarter   See above for more info. Be sure to indicate which quarter you prefer.                

510-346 - Third Quarter, M-F, 1:00-3:50, Theory at ITA, 4:00-8:00 PM clinical at facility last 4 weeks of the quarter. While at clinicals students do  not attend class in the afternoon.  This class schedule is subject  to slight change due to availability of instructor.

“Current Trends in Health Careers”

510-348 Fourth Quarter, M-F, 7:45-10:45 a.m., theory at Reuther, Occupational Experience at a clinical facility last four weeks of quarter. All students signing up for the third quarter nursing assistant class at Reuther are encouraged to also list the Current Trends in Health Care Careers class so that they will have it as an option.  They are not obligated to take the course, but we may not be able to add them later.  All Youth Options forms due by October 1, 2005

“Medical Terminology YOP”

Fourth Quarter, Fourth block. Approx. 1:20-3:00. To be held at ITA. Schedule has not been finalized with Gateway at this time.  All students signing up for the class and their counselors will be informed as information becomes available
